I have the DBA option so I should have Knowledge Expert for Oracle admin. It is now asking me for a key. What could be the problem?

RESOLUTION: Verify that the 'Admin Kb' is listed under the 'Options' section of the Help About in TOAD. Next, check the registry 1. Go to Start Run and type in 'Regedit'. Go to HKEYLOCALMACHINE Software Quest Software. On the right-hand pane, find 'LFPathTOAD'. Make sure it has the value of the path of the TOAD directory. For example: C: Program Files Quest Software Toad for Oracle.
If there are multiple Toad applications, make sure it is the path of the TOAD being used. Verify that the 'Product' value is set to 11. Restart TOAD and launch Knowledge Xpert for Oracle Admin. If the problem remains, try the following additional steps: NOTE: Please have your authorization key and site message in hand 1. Close down TOAD. Go to the Start menu Search For Files or Folders and find 'QSAUTH.KEY'. Look for QSAuth11.KEY and QSAuthorize11.KEY.
Rename QSAuth11.KEY and QSAuthorize11.KEY to QSAuth11.OLD and QSAuthorize11.OLD. Rename the QSAuth38.KEY and QSAuthorize38.KEY as well. Did not exist 6. Re-launch TOAD and input your license key. Call support, this is a known issue and I believe a fix is available. The problem is on the KXpert side, not the Toad side. The section in red was the solution. It worked perfectly.
I had had a problem with commenting/un-commenting blocks. So I installed a new Toad from scratch and changed one set of options from the default to what I had until I found the problem. I guess I also replied yes to install the knowledge base for admin. So of course it changed the registry info. Once I found the problem setting and changed it in my main Toad I removed the Toad I had just installed.
I guess that left the registry in a 'bad' state. I HATE THE REGISTRY.
Why can't Toad go back to the simpler and cleaner installs which only used INI files this way you could install Toad on a memory stick and use on any computer. You currently allow installing Toad on your work and home computer since you can't be at home and at work at the same time. I would prefer allowing only one install but on movable media. This way it would always be with you. The use of the registry is not Toad's fault, it's required for all the other quest products which it interacts with.
